Saving Our Environment Today – For A Healthier & Brighter Tomorrow!

OPEN LETTER TO:  The President, Governors, members of Congress and Senate of the United States of America, Presidents, Prime Ministers and World Leaders around the globe,

STOP the POISIONING!!!

We, the people carry the direct consequences of the decisions and choices our government, businesses and others make. We urgently need your support to save lives, lifestyles, monetary resources and our environment today ... for a healthier & brighter tomorrow for all. On behalf of millions of concerned citizens around the world... we ask your signature designating the month of May as Toxic Injury Awareness and Education month.

Toxic Injury is a worldwide problem demanding worldwide solutions. It can cause abnormal sperm, genital deformity and prostate cancer! Millions of children, men and woman develop unnecessary, serious debilitating illness, disability and premature death due to unnecessary air pollution, mold, toxic metals, pesticides, chlorinated products, air fresheners (petrochemical derivatives) toxic cleaners and other chemicals found in homes, schools, work places, and environment. We must use safer products and procedures, stop the poisoning that causes excess asthma, autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases and other toxic related illness which are devastating to people, the health care system, work performance and attendance, insurance cost and the economy.

Medical conditions aggravated by toxic exposures include migraine, asthma, sinusitis, otitis, emphysema, autoimmune diseases, chronic fatigue, liver disease, attention deficit, hyperactivity, autism, Parkinson’s, fibromyalgia, and many more diseases involving inflammation. Once damaged, our bodies adversely react to more substances at much lower levels, which cause difficulty breathing, impair balance, thinking, seizures, etc.

Many toxins are carcinogenic, endocrine/hormone disrupting, respiratory irritants, and/or sensitizers causing serious health effects and are listed on the EPA, RCRA and CERCIA Hazardous waste lists. Preventable disability from toxins interferes with learning in schools and on the job by impairing brain function. It also creates loss of otherwise productive workers, a tragedy to them and the economy. It interferes with national and international best use of human resources, and defeats the ethical and spiritual need to cherish every human life.

Doctors are withdrawing children from school and adults from work because medically required reasonable accommodations are being denied. Readily achievable accommodations are NOT costly and allow everyone access to school, church, work, and to interact with others in public sporting, and other social events. Many also are forced to forgo the joy of family and holiday celebrations, weddings and even funeral/memorial services for loved ones due to lack of required accommodations. This information gap creates painful restrictions and social isolation.

Toxic Injury (also called, chemical illness, environmental illness, gulf war illness, sick building syndrome, “mcs”, etc.) can affect the respiratory, central nervous, immune, musculoskeletal, porphyrin metabolism and hormone systems. Symptoms can include but are not limited to burning sensation, skin rashes, metallic taste in mouth, irritated eyes, ears, nose, throat, severe sinus and/or migraine headaches, difficulty breathing, trouble concentrating, attention deficit, hyperactivity in children, short term memory loss, poor coordination, stroke like brain damage, seizures, heart palpations, chronic fatigue, aching joints and muscles.  Chronic effects can include permanent/long standing learning disability, autism, autoimmune or neurodegenerative disease, leukemia, brain and other cancers.

Toxic Injury is a chronic debilitating condition for which there is no known cure. Treatment is expensive, requires major environmental controls and few doctors are trained to treat/help heal the effects.

Just as physical barriers prevent wheelchair access, invisible barriers (toxic chemicals, pesticides, scented products and mold) prevent use of public facilities, schools, places of employment, hospitals, medical and dental care facilities, emergency, assisted and residential housing to those with toxic injury. These toxic barriers STOP those with toxic exacerbated illness from having necessary access! Given a controlled environment and reasonable accommodations, many persons with chemically exacerbated illnesses could be self-reliant, financially independent and not forced onto welfare.

Safer choices, products and practices are available, affordable, and effective. As our elected officials, it is your duty to protect the health of all citizens, our environment and natural resources. As citizens from around the world, we unite asking you, our elected officials, to exercise your power and responsibility to implement good stewardship, and to stop unnecessary toxic harm.

Safer choices, products and practices, raising awareness and using prevention, improving the quality of our indoor/outdoor air, water supply, food, natural resources, and better labels and label laws of products containing any known or suspected toxic substances or allergens is needed.

Adequate training and continuing education will help provide health care professionals information to better identify and treat toxic illness early, before disability develops. Misdiagnosis, mistreatment, and discrimination against those with toxic exacerbated illness can be avoided as government officials; health professionals, family members and society become more educated on serious toxic illnesses.

We must work together to remove all barriers and open the doors that are closed to anyone because of a disability or special need accommodation. “Disability Profiling” is truly unjust. Someone’s difference or disability does not make their life any less valuable, less important, nor disposable.

28 or more governors have proclaimed May Toxic Injury Awareness and Education month or signed similar proclamations.  Many thousands of others have signed on in support of this or similar proclamations.
