“MCS” Beacon Of Hope Foundation
Saving Our Environment Today – For A Healthier & Brighter Tomorrow!

Hello,

We would like to introduce you to the “MCS” Beacon of Hope Foundation, created in late July of 2000 by and for those with Toxically Induced Illness/Injury and disabilities. People are dying, lives are being destroyed and families are being ripped apart physically, emotionally and financially. People of all ages nationwide and worldwide have developed a condition known as Toxic Injury, also referred to by some as Toxic Poisoning, Chemical Sensitivities, Chemically Induced Illness, Environmental Illness, etc. Toxic Injuries may include but are not limited to reactive airway dysfunction, brain toxic encephalopathy, Parkinson’s, Gulf War Illness, ADD, ADHD, cancer, ms, immune dysfunction syndrome, irritant asthma, chronic fatigue, migraines and more. Years ago, according to the National Academy of Sciences, 37 million Americans suffer from environmental illness. Unfortunately the statistics are still climbing!

Toxic Injury is characterized by heightened sensitivity to very small amounts of air pollution, petrochemicals, pesticides, mold and other toxins found in our homes, schools, places of employment, as well as our everyday personal & household cleaning products and furnishings, and our environment. It can be caused by short-term or chronic exposure to one or more chemicals, frequently pesticides, and solvents and can start at any age. It knows NO boundaries. Every person, young, old, rich, poor, regardless of color, creed or education, EVERYONE is at Risk!

Some of these chemicals are listed on the EPA, RCRA and CERCIA Hazardous waste lists. Many are known to be carcinogenic, narcotic, and/or a sensitizer capable of having serious, adverse health affects on the human body and the environment. Toxic Injury may include multiple, often disabling illnesses, affecting the respiratory, central nervous, immune, musculoskeletal, porphyrin, metabolism and endocrine systems and can be life threatening. Symptoms may include but are not limited to flu like symptoms, severe headaches, poor coordination, heart palpations, stroke like symptoms, seizures, chronic fatigue, aching joints and muscles, burning sensation, metallic taste in mouth, difficulty breathing and concentrating, short term memory loss, irritated eyes, nose, ears, throat, and/or skin rashes.

Once sensitized, our bodies adversely react to more substances at less, even minute levels. Exposures to tiny amounts of fragrances, scented products, commercial cleaners, petroleum and petroleum by products can instantaneously cripple us, causing great difficulty breathing, problems with coordination, thinking, memory lapses, heart palpitations, seizures, etc. At the very least, it causes major lifestyle changes and restrictions in not only our lives, but in those around us. The devastating and debilitating illnesses caused by said exposures make it impossible for many to work, attend school, church, socialize or even care for themselves. Their own homes and surroundings can become off limits, far too toxic for their now weakened and damaged bodies to tolerate. Many are forced into homelessness & isolation, separated from friends, families and loved ones.

Toxic Injury is a chronic debilitating condition for which there is no known cure, causing serious financial, employment, learning, housing, health, social and other consequences. It is crucial for those with Toxic Injury to have the support and understanding of their government, families, friends, and society in general as they struggle with the restrictions and isolation now placed on them.

Unfortunately, we’ve learned first hand the devastation caused from exposures to toxic chemicals. Through our own pain, suffering, loss of health and loved ones, the need to raise public awareness and education on this fast growing health and environmental issue became painfully clear. Thus, the ”MCS” Beacon of Hope Foundation was established.

As preventative measures we are committed to raising public awareness and education on Toxic Injury. We feel it is our duty, to make the public aware of these dangers and to make known the readily available safer choices, products and practices. Once aware they will be better equipped to make informed decisions and better able to protect themselves and their loved ones against dangerous and unnecessary exposures.

Invisible Barriers STOP those with toxic injuries/chemical hypersensitivities from enjoying the same rights and privileges others take for granted. Given a controlled environment and reasonable accommodations many of the toxically ill could once again be self-reliant and financially independent and “ NOT” forced to go into the welfare system.

The urgent need for safer, user friendly medical and dental care facilities, emergency assisted and residential housing, etc. must be addressed and provided. The existing ones are filled with so many dangerous, heavy duty cleaning products, disinfectants, pesticides and other irritating toxins that they are rendered off limits to the chemically ill. The very basic, human rights and needs necessary for survival are currently being denied to those needing them the most.

Through awareness & education, and the teaching and practicing of better stewardship, we can help prevent more families; (perhaps your own) from having their health & lives needlessly destroyed or prematurely ended by unnecessary, dangerous, toxic exposures and air pollution!

Those suffering with toxically induced illnesses and disabilities deserve the same rights, acknowledgment, respect, support and help allotted to other illnesses & disabilities. It is our hope that the misdiagnosis, mistreatment, and discrimination against those with these illnesses will cease once our government officials, medical professionals, family members and society in general become more educated on these serious medical issues.

The prevalence of these illnesses and the lack of knowledge and qualified doctors clearly warrant further education in this field for the public in general, practicing doctors, dentists & rescue personnel alike. “Knowledge is Power”, and “that” Power of Knowledge can save precious lives!

Our pain and suffering has been long and ongoing, many of us have had to bury our dead. To avoid misdiagnoses and legal injustice it is Imperative for one to be seen by a specialist in the field of Environmental Health, Neurology, and Toxicology. Early diagnosis is critical to avoid disability.

Our strong faith and trust in God has sustained us. We continue to grow stronger everyday as more people join us in our mission. The needs of the toxically injured and ill are many and urgent. “Together” with the support and generosity of caring individuals and companies like yours, we can make a positive difference. Your willingness to reach out and become part of the solution can help safe lives and better protect our future generations and the environment while helping those already living in crisis.

Please, Help us today so it is not you or your loved ones who need our help tomorrow!

A Mind…a Body…a Future... the Environment, what Terrible Things to Waste!

FYI: the “MCS” in the “MCS” Beacon of Hope, stands for: multiple chemicals/toxins are involved, multiple symptoms occur and multiple body organs/systems are damaged.

We dream of a healthier and brighter tomorrow - Along with your help, we can make that dream come true!

Thanking you in advance for your anticipated help and support!
