Fleas
Did
you know?
A flea can jump an estimated100 times its own length.
A female flea will produce 2,000 eggs in a period of only three months.
A pair of
fleas can produce 400-500 offspring in their lifetime . . .which is approx. 60
to 100 days.
A flea egg takes three to six weeks to hatch.
Repeal
them:
Set
eucalyptus leaves (without formaldehyde) and/or cypress mulch inside and out.
Fleas
can't stand them and they have a fresh
fragrance. Place leaves, stems and or mulch in
open
glass jars. Set one or two in each room of the
house. You
can
also put the ingredients in zip lock bags then punch holes with ice pick and
toss under couches, chairs, beds, etc.
(Do
not allow pets or small children access to items.
A
handful of lavender, sage, rosemary, catnip, eucalyptus, peppermint, feverfew or
tansy can be brewed and sprayed to repel fleas.
A
thick rind lemon, sliced along with a couple good sprigs of rosemary can be
brewed and sprayed to repel fleas.
Essential
eucalyptus, tea tree or lavender oil can be used in replace of flea collars.
The
addition of garlic to a
dog's meals can help to repeal fleas, as well as sulphur.
Healthy
animals are less susceptible to fleas. Feed them a high-quality, natural diet
free of additives and preservatives, you improve their health and dramatically
increase their protection from fleas. Nutritional supplements can help too.
Cleaning:
Vacuum repeatedly.
Wash
your pets bedding several times in the washer in hot water
