Poisonings
cause illnesses, disabilities and “yes” even death & can happen quickly
from just one toxic exposure or more slowly, over a long period of time
from accumulative effects
of one or more toxic chemicals found daily in our homes, schools & places of
work.
Means
of exposures:
Inhalation
– directly into our lungs, brains, and respiratory systems
Absorption
– through our skin straight into our bloodstream
Ingestion
– affecting our digestive system

of all Cancer is caused by toxic chemicals (NCI)
884
toxic substances were identified in a list (partial) of 2,983 chemicals used in
the fragrance industry.
The
study found:
314
fragrance industry chemicals known to cause
778
caused acute toxicity
218 cause reproduction problems
376 cause skin and eye irritations

Accordingly
to David Pimentel, PhD, Cornell University entomologist, less then one hundredth
of one percent of sprayed pesticides reach their intended target. Pesticides
cause serious health problems including deaths, toxicity, neurological effects,
reduced immune responses, learning disabilities, and others (Pimentel, 2004).
Each year worldwide there are 26 million pesticide poisonings with 220,000
deaths (Richter, 2002). In the U.S., NCFH (2004) reports there are 300,000
nonfatal pesticide poisonings.
Neurodegenerative
diseases such as Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer’s
Disease have been linked to toxic chemical exposures. (Office of
Technology Assessment)
95%
of mother’s milk is toxic from pesticides and PCB’s found in food, water,
homes, and in the workplace. Human breast milk is so contaminated that if it
were bottled, the FDA would ban its sale. (EPA)
ALL
cleaning products are HARMFUL if swallowed. As a matter of safety, all labels
contain a “signal word” that designates the level of toxicity of the
product.
“DANGER!”
indicates the product is highly toxic (much less than a
teaspoon
can harm or kill an adult),
“CORROSIVE!”
means that the product can burn the
skin or eyes;
“FLAMMABLE!”
the product has a high flash point and can be ignited
by a spark or open flame contacting its vapors;
“WARNING!”
means the product is moderately toxic (about a teaspoon to
an ounce can harm or kill an adult);
“CAUTION!”
a product is slightly toxic (more than an ounce can harm or
produce a toxic effect in an adult). It MUST be noted that
children are far more
susceptible to being harmed or killed
by these type of product
compared to adults.
