Molly may not look ill but looks
can be very deceiving. At one point Molly’s Mom was told what no parent wants to hear: “it is time to call in
a priest”. Molly made it - but not
without serious health issues. The constant danger of additional toxic
exposures keeps her from doing a lot of the fun things kids do. Simple
activities like attending school, church, playing at friends’ homes or going to
the mall can cause serious, life-
threatening health reactions. Because of dangerous invisible barriers, a
lot of thought and special accommodations are now medically required before
Molly can even consider doing things other kids her age take for granted.
Molly, and her family (like millions of children and adults nationwide) are
living with ‘serious’ health issues
caused from un-necessary exposures to toxic chemicals.
Many
of these toxins are found in products we ‘wrongly’ consider safe and are
presently in our homes, schools, places of employment and the environment. Some
are listed on the EPA, RCRA and CERCIA Hazardous waste lists. Toxic
Injuries may include but are not limited to
reactive airway dysfunction, brain toxic encephalopathy, Parkinson’s,
Gulf War Illness, ADD, ADHD, cancer, ms, immune dysfunction syndrome, irritant asthma and more.
According to the EPA there are many
environmental asthma triggers commonly found in our schools.
Ten
year-old Molly finds it hard to understand why she must live with so much pain,
restrictions and isolation from an illness that could have easily been
prevented. In spite of all her heath problems, Molly is eager to help the “MCS”
Beacon of Hope Foundation raise A&E as preventative measures so you or your
kids and families don’t have to live the way she does.
Just to survive, so many people like Molly must now have control over their environments, including the need for environmentally safe and user- friendly homes,
schools and surroundings. The presence of toxins and molds in/or around these areas add even more health risks to this beautiful little girl and others like her. Even the available shelters and soup kitchens are off limits to those with Toxic Injury due to the presence of strong cleaners, pesticides, and other toxic products and materials.
